THE MIDDLE AGES IN VALCONCA

Among the villages near Riccione there is Montefiore Conca, with its Malatesta fortress built in the 1300s, open every day during the summer season, Montescudo, another ancient Malatesta fortress, with the city walls, its tower and secret pathways leading to the Rocca (Fortress). In addition, Saludecio, one of the most charming villages of the valley of Conca, Mondaino with its castle that, legend has it, is populated by ghosts, and Montegridolfo, with the castle dating back to the 1300s, perfectly preserved, just like the narrow streets, old churches and buildings. 

The discovery of these places continues in the Valley of Marecchia with the ancient Verucchio, village located on a rock spur from which you can enjoy the panorama of the surrounding valley, Torriana and Montebello, also dominated by Malatesta until 1500, Santarcangelo and its small streets that host events, shows and festivals throughout the year and Pennabilli, home of Tonino Guerra, who created here art installations, the so-called “Luoghi dell’anima” (‘Abodes of the Soul’), that still characterize the place.
